The second phase of SATCOM Catalyst, named "SATCOM + 5G Anywhere," elevated this Proof of Concept (PoC) by targeting an emerging domain set to drive significant innovation and disruption over the next 3-5 years.
The integration of 5G with satellite communication networks is a highly anticipated development, with 3GPP and ETSI providing detailed specifications. While substantial industry efforts are directed towards merging these technologies from both network and device perspectives, the operational support systems/business support systems (OSS/BSS) and network management aspects are still lacking. This collaboration aims to address these gaps from the TM Forum's viewpoint, focusing on how to bridge terrestrial and satellite communications to enhance global resilience and coverage in various scenarios.
The key contribution from Alvatross in this work group is our expertise in customer order orchestration. These TM Forum Open APIs play a crucial role in seamlessly integrating customer order management with the broader solution framework provided by the participating companies. By ensuring that customer orders are efficiently orchestrated and managed within the integrated solution, Alvatross enhances the overall coherence and effectiveness of the project, facilitating smoother interactions between different components and stakeholders involved.
