Context

MTC Namibia, the largest telecommunications service provider in Namibia, offers a comprehensive range of mobile and data services. The company is dedicated to delivering communication solutions to both urban and rural communities, striving for innovation and excellence in service delivery.

Context

Onivia is Spain’s first neutral and independent fiber wholesaler, distinguishing itself by offering network infrastructure to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) without competing with them. Onivia’s focus on robust infrastructure and its expansion aims to enhance capabilities for ISPs across Spain, enabling improved fiber and mobile services for end customers.

Challenges

Onivia faced several key challenges in its efforts to enhance its commercial operations and service offerings. These challenges centered on managing complex product configurations, ensuring seamless integration across multiple systems, optimizing operational efficiency, and maintaining robust security controls. Addressing these issues was essential to support Onivia’s strategic growth and provide a streamlined, scalable infrastructure for its ISP partners.
In short:
Complex Product Management: Onivia needed a comprehensive and customizable commercial catalog to support a wide range of products and services.

Integration Requirements: Seamless interaction between Onivia’s systems, partner layers, and external APIs was critical to ensure operational coherence.

Operational Efficiency: Manual processes and data redundancies required optimization to improve accuracy, data integrity, and streamlined operations.

Security and Access Control: Precise, role-based access management was necessary to mitigate operational risks and safeguard sensitive data.

Project overview

The project focuses on transforming Onivia’s IT platform, Vertex, to create a comprehensive and unified commercial catalog system that aligns with the company’s growth strategy. Led by Alvatross, in collaboration with Tecalis and Optare, the initiative introduces advanced capabilities such as lifecycle management, versioning, and catalog cloning to streamline product updates and maintenance.
Additionally, the catalog integrates commercial offer data and location-specific services using a geographic site API, while providing robust tools for precise policy and data management to enhance operational efficiency.

Tecalis manages the BSS layer to ensure seamless integration with the Alvatross API, while Optare oversees the services and resources layer, including their own catalog system. This collaborative approach ensures an efficient, scalable, and secure IT infrastructure for Onivia, enhancing service delivery, strengthening partnerships with ISPs, and positioning the company for long-term growth in Spain’s telecommunications market.
